“I have been asked to provide a letter of reference for the Bonaventure Child Care Centre and I do so without hesitation. My two children have been in full-time care at the center since September 2009. At the time, they were 28 months and 5 months old respectively and it was the first time they had been in a child care setting as I had "been at home" with them since the birth of my first child. I have nothing but high praise for the care my children receive at Bonaventure. I fully appreciate the programming, such as early literacy and Montessori program in the JK and SK rooms, and services, such as fresh, nutritious hot lunches and snacks, provided at the centre. The spring music concert as the outcome of the weekly music classes is a highlight every year. More importantly, I leave the daycare every morning, confident that all the children are being cared for in a nurturing, safe environment that promotes learning and independence. I believe the caregivers and management foster an atmosphere of respect between themselves, the children and their parents. An example of the staff’s conscientious, proactive behavior occurred in December when there was a recall of a particular brand of infant cereal. The staff had been using a variety of that cereal which I had provided to feed my younger child (before he had transitioned to the meals provided at the center). I heard about the recall after dropping my son off for the day. “In the month of August 1994 I entered through the doors of Baycrest Childcare Centre, desperate for somewhere for my daughter to attend in order for me to return to work. “Our daughters, Noa and Shani Yeshayahu , have been attending the Baycrest Daycare Center for a year and a half. This has been a wonderful experience for us. We were fortunate to go through both the toddler and the intermediate rooms. In both, the staff was extremely caring and attentive to both children and parents. We had very good communication with their caregivers and the administrative staff as well. We always felt that our needs and concerns were heard and addressed. The program at the daycare is rich and diverse. “Our daughter was born at 25 weeks gestation. She was incubated at Women's College Hospital for 3 months. Doctors were very concerned for her future developments due to her prematurity. “My children have attended Pineway Childcare Learning Centre for over three years. Put simply, Pineway Childcare is the best! The programs offered at Pineway allowed my children to be involved in many activities which kept them entertained while educating them at the same time. My School Age child was involved in arts projects, science experiments and Tai Kwon Do. My Preschooler learned how to read, count, and use his manners! Not to mention all the trips offered in the summer and the magicians and sing - a- longs. The music concerts that Pineway holds every year blows me away. The decorations, songs and costumes are beautiful and the children learn so many songs and sometimes sing in other languages too! Sadly this year, my School Age child had to withdraw because he is 12 years old and no longer of age to attend Pineway. However, I am happy that my younger son is still At Pineway where I know he is receiving the love, attention and education that I look for in a Centre. “In May 2010, I was feeling hopeless. My eldest daughter was in junior kindergarten. Most kids already knew how to spell their names. The daycare she attended refused to work on it, unless she asked. No rules, no structure, but most of all, an extremely cold environment. Every day, upon arrival and pick her up, I got a negative report. I didn't understand. My daughter is a loving, very well behaved child. Yet the child they saw was too chatty, too busy, and never listened. I had had enough. I started calling around, asking professionals in the childcare industry, is this normal? Then I found Tumpane Childcare Center. Over the phone, the lady told me, just come in for a meeting and see how you feel. So, in I walked, desperate. Daniela, the supervisor was so warm, so understanding. In the back of my mind I couldn't help feeling like I was being extreme, or a 'needy parent'. After talking with Daniela, she brought me to the room that would be my daughter’s level. Holding back tears, I watched 30mth-4yrs old children, recognizing letters, sounds, calling out Zebra when they were shown the letter Z. I couldn’t believe it. I was not crazy to want the best for my child. Over the next two months, I waited for an opening. She moved to Tumpane in July 2010. The thing with Tumpane that is unbelievable is that they fit in everything that matters. Montessori, a wonderful approach to discipline and structure in a loving way. Phonics, programs designed to help with excelled academic progress. Great staff, all very different individuals, but all in tune with the children and their needs. Tasty, healthy food, that's the kids actually eat! During the summer, the program changes. I think this is one of my favorite things. All of the school friends and older students are home, vacationing, and excited about summer activities. Well, the children stuck at daycare, they don't have it too bad. Trips, bouncy castles, outdoor picnic/water days, and an opportunity to reset before the new school year begins. My youngest child is almost three. I have been counting down the months to have her at the right age to transfer her to Tumpane. After watching her sister and all of the children in the June Showcase, she was very vocal about going to 'school' with her sister. Recently we have moved her into the pre-school room. Even though I was determined and anxious for her to get started! Wasn't sure how she would be. Well sure enough, the transition has not caused so much as a hiccup. She walks in smiling and ready to go, and walks out talking all about her day. She loves it. Finally, I have to add that the school the children move into is top notch. Tumpane Public School is exceptional. The relationship between the childcare and school goes hand in hand. This communication is extremely important if you're working full time and do not see your child's teacher daily. I would recommend Tumpane Childcare Center to any parent who believes that this time is the foundation of our children's lives. Our job as parents is to give them the building blocks, why not offer every color, shape, and size. In our world today, it's not worth the risk to just hope for the best. “My daughter was a little over 4 years old when she first entered this facility. She is now 8 years old, the day that we enrolled her at Tumpane Child Care was the best decision we ever made. The staff is caring considerate, and truly wants to see a child grow up to be the best they can be. This was my daughter second home, we can go to work each day and be confident that she is well taken care of and any concerns that we may have are addressed immediately, Ms Savinetti and her staff are amazing, I went on a few field trips with the centre and I am always blown away to see how organized, professional and in control they are. And let's not forget the yearly concerts, AWESOME!!! This year was particular amazing. It was so obvious that the staff and children worked really hard, and they did a fabulous job. The only reason why my daughter is leaving is because we moved out of the city, I have asked Ms Savinetti to move the daycare to Ajax, but alas it is not possible. My daughter is a confident young lady and I can say without a doubt the staff at Tumpane childcare has a lot to do with that. “What I like most about Tumpane Childcare Centre is their attentiveness to the needs of every child. The staffs are gentle, nurturing and child focused. They are often able to provide the necessary reassurance and comfort to an upset child. They are able to address the needs of each child and still provide the parents with valuable information when necessary daily and otherwise weekly. I look forward to reading the newsletter that is provided each Month during the school year because it provides me with valuable information of upcoming events, changes, and suggestions. My two children ages four (4) and three (3) enjoy the program very much and they look forward to attending the program each day. The children are able to share what they learn, you will often find them practicing circle time or the Montessori principles being taught in the program. The social skills of me children since starting the program has improved and they are becoming more confident will to share with others what they are learning. Since March, 2011, the children and staff began practicing for their Spring Concert entitled "Good Vibrations", the performance of the very talented children was excellent, the display of songs and the media that was used in the past to present was superb. I was delighted to observe the final production after Months of them practicing the various songs. The costumes and the entire presentation wonderfully done. I have been extremely happy with the level of service and professionalism at the Centre.My son (Malachi) loves coming to "school" each and everyday and even asks to come on weekends. “Tumpane Child care center is a unique child care facility. My children look forward to attending the centre on a daily basis, according to my 8yrs old daughter "I like that the teachers are fun, I like the writing table also. The staff at the centre interacts well with the children, and has a personalized routine for each child. The programs offered at Tumpane enhance the skills of the children and encourage them to embrace their differences. They continuously learn about the importance of multiculturalism. The children are accompanied to and from school daily, after school programs are also available at the Daycare. “This is to recommend Tumpane Child Care as an outstanding child care facility for preschool, before and after school programs. My son Robert Selikem Gidisu has been a student at this facility since 2006 and I am writing as a parent to give my assessment about the facility. The reasons why I recommend this facility are as below:

Curriculum: Tumpane's curriculum is structured so well that, it assists the children in their reading, mathematics and social skills. Before my son went to grade one, he was able to read, recognize various shapes, solve simple mathematical problems and also developed social skills on how to deal with other children and people. He has also been telling us about how important it is to be a leader than a follower and understood issues regarding how to empathize with others and resolving conflicts. These are all things he learnt at the Tumpane.

Dedication of Teacher: They teachers at Tumpane are amazing and so dedicated to the children and their parents. Every single day I drop my son off before going to work, the teacher present will ask me if there any issue they should know about. On picking him up, they also brief me on how he fared in the course of the day. They also help my son with his home work. The equally treat all parents with a great deal of respect.

Open Communication: As a parent, the teachers see me as a partner at Tumpane. They inform me about all programs and activities coming lip and outcomes of those that have been undertaken. This keeps me abreast with what is happening at the facility.

Interaction: When you drop him off or come to pick up my son, the interaction observed among the children, teachers and parents is just a delight to watch. My personal observation is that, all stakeholders are like one big family. I personally like that as it gives me the confidence and assurance that my son is learning some great things that will prepare him for the future.  

Based on the above and other qualities, I strongly recommend Tumpane as a parent to any parent or institution that may need their services.” - Robert Gidisu
